Welcome to my latest newsletter. It has been an eventful year. My business has been absolutely fantastic and I want to take this moment to thank you all. What a lovely group of customers and clients!

Even if you’re not thinking of selling your home, you might find this information valuable

So many times after staging a property, the owner says, "Why didn’t I do this before?"
Good question!

Think back to when you bought your home.  Do you remember all the things you visualized?  Did you do them?  Probably not, because most people never get around to all their projects and now there are just fixer upper things to do!!!  Those skylights and that deck, the pond in the back yard will have to wait for the new owners.

 If you’ve read the newspaper or listened to the news, you know the housing market is Tough!  There are qualified buyers out there, but they only want the Best?  Who doesn’t?
The housing reality is that the most house for the best price is still the one everyone wants.  If your house isn’t perfect from curb to backyard, you are in for a long time on the market.  What can you do besides lowering the price?  Many Realtors are now offering staging evaluations as part of their listing presentation.  Check with your realtor to see if they offer staging.

What can you do?  Clear out the clutter!  Clean sells bets!  Don’t wait until after your move to clean the carpets or wash the windows.  Have you ever notice that you can’t smell your own house but can smell everyone else’s?  Pets, cooking, closed up houses have odors.  Softly add fragrance!  You can use some nice plug-ins from any one of several companies. Use something very light!  Citrus or neutral is best.  The Victoria’s Secret scent is NOT what you want in your house to attract buyers!!  A vanilla plug-in is another one that I don’t recommend.  Too often vanilla smells fake and makes me think the homeowner is trying to cover something up.  Vanilla was supposed to make you think some wonderful cookies were in the oven.  When is the last time a Glade plug in did that for you?
Fresh paint-not white-a soft neutral, think of the color of a cup of hot chocolate-will make your house more inviting. 
Do you remember the old saying “The devil is in the details”?  You can spend weeks getting the house ready for sale and then the simplest thing, like wet towels in the bathroom can be a turn off to potential buyers.  You may be too close to the problem and will need to hire a professional stager. Don’t get distressed or anxious.  Staging is FUN!  You can really enjoy the experience. You may find yourself saying, “Why didn’t I do this before? You will also find it much easier and more gratifying to finish all those upcoming projects in your new home too.
